What is a Gat Number?
The Maharashtra Land Records Department defines Gatwari as the process of combining old Survey Numbers and converting them into a new Gat Number. This means a property may be referred to by a Gat Number in records created after such consolidation or reorganisation.
Do not assume that a Survey Number and Gat Number are interchangeable in every case. Use the identifier shown on the latest official record for the specific village and parcel.
What is a CTS Number?
CTS Number is commonly shown by Maharashtra's official services as the City Survey or Nagar Bhumapan number. The Property Card service asks for the relevant city-survey number after the user selects the division, district, taluka/city-survey office and village.
In practical terms, if you are working with a Property Card or a city-survey record, the CTS/City Survey Number is usually the identifier you should look for on that record.

How to find CTS from Survey Number — or Survey Number from CTS
Maharashtra provides an official lookup page for mapped areas that can search Survey Number to CTS Number and CTS Number to Survey Number. The government page states that mapping of notified Survey/Gat Numbers to City Survey Numbers is still in progress under Section 122, so a missing result does not automatically mean the identifier is invalid.
If the mapping is not available online, the official page advises contacting the relevant Taluka Deputy Superintendent of Land Records office.
